Video Audition
While all applicants must eventually audition in person, videos are accepted. Here's what you need to know:
- Express interest. You'll need to be in our system before you submit your video. Fill out the interest form if you haven't already.
- Join the interest group for your section.
- Review the audition materials. Download the audition info packet for your section.
- Record and upload your video to YouTube. Be sure the video is not listed as "private".
- Email a link to your video. Write "GE Video Audition - Your Name" in the subject and include a link to your video in the body of the email. Send the email to info@geperformingarts.org
Percussion
Note: All video auditions should be using a metronome, and marking time (for battery members). On the equipment of choice is preferred but a loud enough drum pad is fine if applicable.

No video auditions will be accepted for the cymbal section at this moment. MUST AUDITION IN PERSON. Email info@geperformingarts.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Front Ensemble:
Send an email to info@geperformingarts.org with the subject “GE Front Ensemble - Your Name” with your name, previous experience and instrument in which you plan to audition. You’ll receive a response with instructions for submitting a video audition for the instrument you’ve requested.

Brass
All applicants for the brass section must submit a video interview/audition. If you do not have access to a brass instrument at home or school, we will conduct your audition during our workshop or at the first rehearsal that you attend.
Note: Concert Tubas/ Euphoniums may be used for etudes. Box drill must be performed with a marching instrument.

- Exercise #1: Articulation Series (Tempo=96)
- Exercise #2: F Remington (Tempo=96)
- 2 note lip slur with box drill. ( Tempo = 132)
Box Drill
- Forward 8
- Right 8 (forward slide)
- Back 8
- Left 8 (back slide)
- Forward 8
- Left 8 (forward slide)

- Right 8 (Back slide)
- Halt
Visual
The visual audition will consist of a video with the feet and upper body in frame and an audible metronome at 160 bpm. The player will be facing the camera.

- Forward slide left for 8 counts.
- Hold 4 counts.
- Backwards slide right for 8 counts.
- Hold 4 counts.
- Backwards slide left for 8 counts.
- Hold 4 counts.
- Forwards slide right for 8 counts.
- Halt.
Brass notes:
- Every move should have a horn snap up to playing position on count 1.
- The horn should snap down on count 1 of every halt.
- If done correctly the player should end up where they start.
Percussion notes:
- Percussion audition will be the same as the brass audition, only wearing drums instead of a horn.
- When going left and right the player will be using crabbing technique instead of sliding.
- Sticks/cymbals up on the move and down on the halt.
